Baggage from the past can affect a marriage. Your baggage is the sum total of your life experiences, good and bad. You may try to keep the baggage – insecurity, disappointment, jealousy and pride – out of sight and out of mind, but inevitably you or your spouse will trip over it. Then someone may get hurt. If you want to live in love with your mate, you can’t be held captive by past pain or present problems. We all need grace in order to be forgiven, and we need grace to forgive one another. Grace and forgiveness strengthen marriages!
