Betty and I thank God for our marriage. We would not be where we are today without each other or without God’s hand of blessing upon our lives. Please understand we have not written this book because we have “arrived” as a couple, but, rather to help others understand how two people can live in love through the years, whether experiencing exciting times in a new beginning, or the challenging times we all face in life and in marriage. We have, with God’s help and our commitment to each other, learned how to work together to communicate for better understanding, and build a relationship that has stood the test of time. This book will tell more of the story of how a pretty girl from a secure and loving family and a boy from an impoverished and dysfunctional background ended up with an incredible fifty-year love relationship. Outside of our relationship with God, our relationship with each other is our greatest priority and has provided us with the most wonderful family memories through the years.
